A tale from high school:
I had seminary from 6:30 to 7:15 every day. School began at 8. My high school was just a couple blocks from the church, but students from about ten different schools came together for seminary, so that was the latest we could have it. About every other Wednesday, my school would start at 9. But seminary was unaffected by this, so we'd have an hour and a half to hang out at the church before going to school on those days. This normally became extra homework time.
One such day during sophomore year it was just me and three boys alone in the building during this extra time. We were in the seminary room, which was also the Relief Society room. We got really bored and began pushing hymn books off the piano. Then somehow we began taking all the chairs in the room and stacking them on top of each other. These were the cushioned folding chairs, so they stacked nicely. We got the stack nearly to the ceiling. We had them all intertwined like a house of cards. It was a nice job of engineering and modern art.
We ended up with one huge chair sculpture, topped by all the hymn books. There was another smaller sculpture next to it. One of the guys tried building a sculpture out the plain folding chairs, but it wasn't as stable and so collapsed into a big heap in the corner of the room.
The next morning, we were rather surprised to find all the chairs put back together as normal. Then we learned that Wednesday nights were Homemaking night for a ward's Relief Society. Our seminary teacher belonged to this ward. She said the women all walked into the room and were rather stunned by our chair sculptures, but she realized immediately what had happened. We were not really fond of our teacher that year, so we found it really funny. We just wished the rest of our seminary class could have seen it.
Welcome
I have started a blog because everybody else is doing it. (I'm going to jump off a bridge like everybody else after this.) I figure this is a great way for me to tell you things without actually talking to you. Feel free to leave comments so I don't always feel like I'm talking to myself.
